Meaning behind the name
Grimes has revealed the meaning behind the unusual name. The "X" stands for the unknown variable, "Æ" is her elven spelling of Ai (love or artificial intelligence), and "A-12" is a reference to the Archangel-12, a Lockheed reconnaissance aircraft. "A" also refers to their favorite song, "Archangel," while "12" represents the Chinese zodiac sign of the rat.
The couple has not yet commented on the pronunciation of the name.
