Brandon McManus Released by Denver Broncos

Longtime Placekicker Departs After Nine Seasons

McManus was the last remaining player from the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 championship team.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Brandon McManus, the longest-tenured player on the Denver Broncos roster, has been released by the team, the Broncos announced Tuesday.

McManus, 31, joined the Broncos in 2014 after spending the first two years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts. He quickly became a reliable placekicker for Denver, making 84.3% of his field goal attempts and 95.2% of his extra point attempts during his nine seasons with the team.

McManus was a key member of the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 championship team, making all three of his field goal attempts in the game. He also made the game-winning field goal in the Broncos' 2015 AFC Divisional Round victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

McManus' release comes as the Broncos are undergoing a roster overhaul under new head coach Sean Payton. The team has already released several other veterans this offseason, including quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

McManus' departure leaves the Broncos with a hole at placekicker. The team has several young kickers on their roster, including undrafted free agent Zach Von Rosenberg and former XFL standout Taylor Russolino.
